Recent advances in understanding of cellular death processes, including necroptosis, have allowed for measurement of novel biomarkers. Necroptosis-induced release of cellular content including cell-free mitochondrial DNA (cfmtDNA).  This study aims to investigate the role of cell-free mitochondrial DNA as a marker of immune dysregulation and cellular necroptosis in relation to longitudinal functional outcomes such as frailty and cognitive dysfunction in older adults with HIV to determine if cfmtDNA is predictive of phenotypic change.
